ABOUT FRANCIS SALAMA

Passionate and dedicated to Research & Development I strive to ever progress the current state of the art in many domains of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, as well as to expand the array of their applications and integration at all levels of our society. As an aerospace control systems engineer specialising in UAV technology and research, my main areas of expertise lie in control law development and validation, autonomous avionics systems architecture design and experimental flight testing campaigns. Complementing this technical aspect, my multicultural background, linguistic abilities and relational skills have allowed me to confidently tackle industry and research team leadership responsibilities. In the past, I have completed my PhD thesis by proving and flight-testing the novel analytical multi-objective control allocation algorithms I have derived. I further pursued my academic voyage by taking up a post doctorate position at the University of Bristol\'s Aerospace faculty, to carry on my research in the fields of advanced control strategies and Bio-Inspired UAVs. The next step along the way lead me to becoming a Principal Control Engineer at Blue Bear Systems Research, where I also fulfilled the roles of Lead Flight Test Engineer and Product/Vehicle Owner for their VTOL UAV fleet. My latest exciting challenge has been to take on the position of Principal UAS Systems Engineer/Architect at Collins Aerospace UK.
