ABOUT FIKREAB MEZGEBU
I’m a senior Information Science student at the University of Maryland in the Plus-One B.S./M.S. program, completing my bachelor’s degree while beginning my master’s in Information Systems. I’m interested in using data and technology to help people understand complex systems and make better real-world decisions.Currently, I work as a Research Assistant Intern in the Social Media and Market Dynamics Lab, where I analyze patterns in online activity and study how social media behavior can relate to market movement. This experience has strengthened my analytical thinking and attention to detail while working with real-world data that isn’t always perfect.Alongside my research work, I’ve also worked on data-focused projects through my coursework and programs such as the Break Through Tech AI Fellowship. These experiences have allowed me to work with tools like Python and Excel to clean data, identify patterns, and turn complex information into insights that support decision-making.I’m especially interested in technology risk and data analytics and enjoy working on problems that combine technical analysis with real-world impact.
