ABOUT FAHAD K VALIYAMANNIL
I believe the energy transition is not just an engineering challenge but the defining opportunity of our generation. My aim is to help accelerate the global shift toward cleaner, smarter, and more equitable energy systems by connecting technical precision with financial insight. With around six years of experience in renewable energy, I’ve managed Independent Engineering (IE) reviews for more than 1 GW of utility-scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects while supporting on more than 3 GW of projects. At DNV, I am supporting the financing and delivery of assets developed by EDP Renewables, ENGIE, TotalEnergies, Invenergy and Brookfield Renewables partnering with institutional investors such as JP Morgan, US Bank, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta to bring projects from pre-construction through commercial operation. I combine a strong technical foundation with commercial acumen, assessing designs, project contracts (Interconnection, Offtake/PPA, OEM supply agreements, EPC, O&M, Asset Management and Shared Facilities), construction schedules, construction budgets, and financial models. A detail-oriented mindset enables me to effectively manage interfaces between subject-matter experts in civil, electrical, solar and BESS equipment, energy assessment and permitting disciplines, aligning complex technical inputs with commercial objectives to ensure timely and bankable project delivery. What motivates me most is agency, having the responsibility and freedom to make decisions that move projects forward, close technical and financial gaps, and translate analysis into real-world impact through stakeholder engagement and team work. I hold a Master’s in Clean Energy Engineering from the University of British Columbia, where I focused on sustainable energy systems, energy policy, organizational sustainability, and leadership.
