ABOUT ENYA DEWARS
I am a 4th year PhD candidate studying the molecular mechanisms underlying arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, a heritable cardiovascular disease. My research uses patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cell cardiomyocytes, genetic mouse models, electrophysiology, and live-cell imaging to address the central questions of my thesis. I am a recipient of a two-year American Heart Association predoctoral fellowship. My career goal is to advance scientific discovery and contribute to the development of gene therapies for heritable diseases, with an emphasis in cardiovascular disorders.
