ABOUT EMILY LETCH-AVENELL
Originally a student at Curtin University (Bentley), I completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Human Resource Management and International Business, graduating with First Class Advanced Honours in Sustainability and the Circular Economy. My honours research focused on sustainability, circular economy principles and consumer behaviour, reflecting my strong interest in policy and long-term social impact. I have travelled to more than 60 countries, immersing myself in diverse cultures and learning new practices that have broadened my perspective and expanded my knowledge.I currently work for the Australian Federal Government, with a focus on Closing the Gap in Indigenous Affairs. My work centres on advancing equitable policy outcomes and supporting sustainable, community-led change. I am also a Curtin University tutor and teach the unit Strategic Career Design, assisting students build a meaningful, sustainable career. The unit promotes design thinking to explore global labour trends, employability, and personal branding, preparing students for the future of work. I am passionate about public policy, social impact and environmental sustainability, with international experience including representing youth perspectives at COP28 in Dubai and contributing to sustainability initiatives in Norway.
