ABOUT EMILY COOK

I earned my doctorate studying the properties, transformation, and applied treatment strategies of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS). For my dissertation, I investigated the biotransformation of PFAS precursors with various source zone co-contaminants, activated persulfate chemical oxidation and mineralization of PFAS subclasses in the context of in situ treatment, and the toxicity of PFAS on in situ bioremediation processes. Having worked on several co-occurrent Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP)(Department of Defense) funded grants, I gained extensive experience with project management and writing reports (quarterly, interim, and final), papers, grant proposals, presentations, and posters on her research. At EKI, I am an Environmental Engineer, working on several projects, including the redevelopment of a Bay Area property with historic chlorinated solvent contamination, as well as using my expertise in PFAS transformation to analyze PFAS data for our Clients and inform source attribution.
