ABOUT ELOUISE LEONARD-CROSS

I’m Group People Director at Northumbrian Water, responsible for shaping the people strategy that supports the organisation’s long-term performance, culture and societal impact. My career path is somewhat different to many people leaders. Alongside my background in organisational psychology and HR, I am also a Chartered Marketer and have held senior roles in communications and corporate strategy. This broader experience has given me a strong belief that people strategy cannot sit in isolation — it must be deeply connected to organisational purpose, reputation, customer outcomes and long-term business strategy. As a result, my work focuses on creating the conditions in which people and organisations can thrive: building healthy cultures, developing leadership capability, strengthening engagement and wellbeing, and ensuring organisations have the skills and talent needed for the future. At Northumbrian Water we are committed to being a great place to work while delivering essential services for customers, communities and the environment. I’m proud to work with colleagues across the business to build an organisation where people feel valued, supported and able to do their best work.Alongside my executive role, I contribute to a number of regional and cultural organisations through board and advisory roles, reflecting my commitment to the North East and to organisations that create positive social impact.I’m always interested in connecting with others who are passionate about building more human, inclusive and high-performing organisations.
