ABOUT ELLEN CHAPMAN
At Cultural Heritage Partners, I provide archaeological expertise for Section 106 negotiations, develop consultation policies on consultation, draft Memorandums of Agreement for cultural resources effects, support advocacy and public policy projects to improve stewardship of America\'s cultural heritage, and build tribal capacity for advancing their historic preservation interests.I graduated in May 2018 with my PhD in Anthropology from the College of William & Mary, focused on the archaeology of Richmond and how different stakeholders evaluate and find value in archaeological remains. I\'m currently preparing my first book for publication on the same topic, currently titled A Monumental Absence: Race, Politics, and the Archaeology of Richmond.Broadly, my professional interests are in archaeological policy and advocacy, improving Section 106 consultation, archaeological research methods, open access in archaeology, indigenous archaeology, and community-based research.I also love exploring the James River, gardening with native plants, and developing new cocktails.I would love to hear from you with any inquiries, opportunities, or questions you may have. The best way to reach me is at ellen at culturalheritagepartners dot com for work-related matters or ellen dot chapman at gmail dot com for other outreach.
