ABOUT ELIZABETH LOWREY FIIDA

A designer, industry leader, and mentor, Elizabeth Lowrey has led Elkus Manfredi’s interior architecture practice since the firm’s 1988 founding. Her projects range from corporate, retail/entertainment, and hospitality to multi-family residential, life science, and higher education environments for clients including Walt Disney Imagineering, Harvard University, Publicis Groupe, Texas Medical Center, Boston Consulting Group, the University of Michigan, and New Balance. She is widely recognized as a pioneer in workplace strategy, partnering with companies in a wide variety of industries to re-invent their workplaces for the hybrid world. She has been a guest columnist for Fast Company, Commercial Observer, Work Design Magazine, and Banker & Tradesman, and featured in publications including The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and Metropolis. Her work regularly appears in the design press and she is a frequent speaker, including delivering the 2019 commencement address at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. For the seventh consecutive year, Boston Magazine named Elizabeth among the “150 Most Influential Bostonians,” writing, “Lowrey’s work can be seen in buildings all over Boston and far beyond; she has also been making an impact locally with her involvement in the Civic Action Project and other programs aiming to lift up the next generation of talent.” Elizabeth’s thought leadership role in mentoring the next generation of industry professionals and her active involvement with charitable organizations have earned the recognition of her colleagues and peers. She was inducted into the College of Fellows by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and has received the CREW Boston Suzanne King Public Service Award, the Real Estate Finance Association’s (REFA) Annual Swain Distinguished Service Award, the CoreNet Service Provider Leadership Award, the 2024 Boston Society for Architecture’s Annual Women in Design Award of Excellence, the FACES (Fenway Alliance Celebrates Exceptional Spirit) Award, and the 2025 Bisnow Boston Power Women Award. She is a 2024 Executive Fellow of the Civic Action Project and was selected for the U.S. General Services Administration\'s (GSA) National Registry of Peer Professionals to provide guidance for the Design Excellence, Construction Excellence, and Art in Architecture programs. Elizabeth currently is a board member of the MassArt foundation, Heading Home, and Boston’s REFA. She holds a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from Auburn University and an Honorary Doctorate from MassArt.
