ABOUT ELISE STEEVES
Elise has more than 18 years of experience as a strategic communicator, specializing in crisis communications, employee experience, internal communications and public relations. At Prospera Credit Union, Elise leads a team focused on telling compelling stories through internal communications, social media, member communications and media relations. She is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion, co-leading Prospera Credit Union\'s DEI Program and having previously served as the Vancouver lead of Edelman\'s Global Women\'s Equality Network (GWEN). She also leads Prospera\'s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, which is core to the organization\'s commitment to building vibrant, healthy communities.Prior to joining Prospera, Elise was Account Director at Edelman where she played a key role in providing strategic counsel, crisis communications planning, crisis response simulations and training, and issues management to clients across a variety of sectors and industries. Before that, she spent nearly 10 years practicing media relations and communications in-house, including as Wildfire Information Officer and spokesperson for the BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, and Communications Manager at the BC Pharmacy Association. Elise holds an MA in Literature, Culture and Media from the University of Lund in Sweden, a BA in English and Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and Incident Command System (ICS) certification from the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
