ABOUT ELANA HELOU
I am an Space Systems Engineer with experience in lunar dust contamination modeling and simulation, requirements development for dust mitigation procedures and dust-tolerant designs, and experimental validation of dust transport models. I am interested in all aspects of aerospace development especially human involvement in lunar and space exploration, planetary protection and contamination control, and technology development. I completed a M.S. in Astronautical Engineering from University of Southern California (USC) in December 2021 and a B.S. in Engineering focusing in Aerospace and Biomedical from Smith College in May 2020.I am passionate about getting involved in efforts that improve inclusivity and diversity within the engineering field and have served as a Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) PhD liaison and WiSE and Women in Engineering (WiE) mentors at USC, Publicity Chair and mentor for the Society of Women Engineers Smith College Section, and a national gradSWE mentor.
