ABOUT EDWARD ANDERSON
Ed Anderson grew up in Idaho and began his career at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) in 1984 as a construction engineer, which was followed by multiple roles in engineering, project management, construction, and operations management. His background includes performing reactor experiments at INL’s Advanced Test Reactor and nuclear fuel reprocessing.During his 41-year career, Anderson supported the Department of Energy, the Department of Defense, and international science foundations. He led development of two successful international laboratory operations for the Richard Lugar Center for Public Health Research under the Republic of Georgia Ministry of Health and the Qatar Foundation for Research and Development in Doha, Qatar, both Battelle initiatives. From 2015 to 2023 Anderson was the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer for INL Facilities and Site Services. In 2023 he accepted the position of Facilities and Operations Chief Operating Officer for Los Alamos National Laboratory and in 2025 became the interim Executive Officer for LANL Operations. Anderson has been a member of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Operations Committee and a member of the NREL Board of Managers since 2015. He is currently serving on the Operations Committee for Battelle National Biodefense Institute (BNBI) at the National Biodefense and Countermeasures Center (NBACC).Ed grew up experiencing all that Idaho had to offer such as mountaineering, skiing, white water kayaking, hunting, and hiking. As a hobby mountaineer, Ed has climbed in Russia, the Republic of Georgia, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, all of the western states, and every year at his beloved Tetons in Wyoming. He and his father own isolated property in the Idaho Primitive Area on the Salmon River where his father has lived for the past 30 years. Ed played and coached hockey and soccer his entire life. He now enjoys watching his 10 grandchildren in their life experiences. Anderson has always maintained a strict values-based leadership style focused on trust and transparency which endears him to craft, researchers, and regulators. He always strives to respect and highlight each person’s value and contribution to a common mission.
