ABOUT MUNISH CHAUHAN
Driven by a passion for developing #resilient, self-aware leaders, I am a General Surgery Registrar in the British Army and a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Army Leadership. Coming from a family with very limited resources in India, I’ve always believed that self-leadership and hard work are the keys to success. My journey started as a labourer to a soldier and then becoming a surgeon in the British Army is a testament to resilience, dedication, and the power of self-awareness.As a General Surgery Registrar, I am committed to delivering high-quality care while fulfilling my role as a Commissioned Officer, guiding soldiers and medical personnel to perform under pressure. My clinical practice integrates the discipline of military medicine with a people-first leadership approach, advocating for the development of both skills and individuals. At the Centre for Army Leadership, I present regularly on the global stage, including the House of Lords, national conferences, and Army events. My focus lies in self-awareness, metacognition, resilience development, and psychological safety, presenting research that has been downloaded nearly times in the first 20 days of publication. Internationally, I’ve had the honour of speaking at conferences in India, where I highlight the importance of psychological safety and leadership in high-pressure environments.Alongside my clinical and academic roles, I am an Executive Coach, helping others to cultivate resilience, develop self-leadership, and grow through coaching-oriented leadership. My coaching philosophy centres on nurturing self-awareness and fostering resilience, guiding the next generation of soldiers, doctors, and nurses to unlock their potential.I am honoured to have received multiple awards, including the Fellowship in Leadership from the British Army, the Clinical Excellence Award from Frimley Park NHS Trust, and the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Achievement Award at the House of Parliament in London, to name a few. These recognitions reflect my dedication to leadership and helping others grow, regardless of the challenges they face.Despite my achievements, I remain deeply grounded in my belief that leadership is about people. My mission is to create environments where others feel empowered to grow, take risks, and achieve their best—whether in the operating theatre or on the battlefield.Feel free to connect with me if you’re interested in discussing leadership, resilience, self-awareness, military medicine, or medical #leadership.
