Currently undergoing Phase 2 training with the Army Reserves as a Combat Medical Technician. The training involves the basic Army Reserves training that every recruit is mandated to complete (Phase 1), which covers the basics of soldiering such as navigation, fieldcraft, weapon handling and battlefield first aid. The course also entails an exercise which tests recruits on how well they can apply their training out in the field, sometimes in adverse weather conditions and sleep deprived, all while maintaining a tactical advantage. This is followed by trade training (Phase 2) which in my case is a modular set of training courses, each one covering more depth, where each course is interspaced with local training and continued professional development in pre-hospital trauma care. These skills are extremely transferrable to any workplace, but especially for workplaces near any sort of heavy industry or workshop. It never hurts to have good first aid knowledge in the workplace, as you never know when It could save someone\'s life.
