ABOUT THOMAS DREW IENG
Industry-recognised European/International Welding Engineer with a proven track record of designing, implementing and leading welding and quality-management systems across defence, rail and aerospace. My background spans hands-on fabrication, advanced NDT practice, technical authority roles and multi-site leadership, giving me a rare mix of practical insight and high-level systems understanding. As a Responsible Welding Coordinator at Comprehensive Level A, I’ve delivered compliance to DIN 2303 Q2 BK1, EN 15085-2 CL1, NADCAP and AS9100, and led organisations through audits, accreditation, procedure development and long-term system stability. My experience covers TIG, MIG/MAG, EBW, Plasma and specialist aerospace welding applications, with deep knowledge of BS EN ISO 3834-2, 14731, 15614, 9606 and AWS D17.1 requirements.Alongside my technical roles, I contribute to welding standards development as a BSI Committee Member (WEE/36) and UK National Expert within ISO/TC 44 working groups. I also serve as Chair of the TWI West Midlands Branch, supporting the professional community and shaping best practice.Whether establishing a full welding quality system, achieving accreditation, resolving complex technical challenges or strengthening special-process governance, I bring a practical, structured approach built on real-world delivery. My focus is simple: robust systems, dependable compliance and weld quality that stands up to the most demanding industries.
