ABOUT ANGELA THOMAS
I am a healthcare executive and health services researcher focused on improving maternal health outcomes, advancing health equity, and reducing preventable harm in care delivery systems.I serve as the executive lead of Safe Babies Safe Moms (SBSM), a multigenerational, evidence-based maternal health model designed to reduce disparities in maternal and infant outcomes through system redesign, patient safety, and community-rooted implementation. SBSM integrates clinical care, community partnership, and systems science to address both immediate outcomes and the structural conditions that shape maternal health.I am a results-oriented leader with deep experience across academic, healthcare, and corporate environments. My work centers on applying rigorous scientific methods to enable next-generation healthcare delivery through quality and safety improvement, health equity, innovation, health economics, payment reform, outcomes research, health services research, and data science. I specialize in translating evidence into practice by integrating research with clinical operations and community-based implementation.I bring over 20 years of experience as an operational and scientific leader of translational and clinical research supported by federal and non-federal sponsors. My scholarly work has been published and presented nationally and internationally, with a focus on maternal health, health disparities, health equity, and patient safety. I have also taught and mentored the next generation of healthcare leaders at both the baccalaureate and post-graduate levels.
