ABOUT JOLENE MATEKO A NYAKO
I am a well-organized individual who is passionate about the role of nutrition and preventive medicine in health. My background is in public health, nutrition surveillance, food science and technology, nutrition and epidemiological surveys/interventions design (implementation, monitoring, and evaluation), consumer research (sensory analysis), data analysis, and systematic review. My areas of career interest pertain to the role of food science and nutrition in health promotion, nutrition in emergency situations, indigenous health systems, nutrition education, women empowerment, and development. I have an extensive community engagement portfolio, experience in food systems-related policy and advocacy work and I am very proactive and able to maintain effective working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. EXPERTISE Nutrition surveillance(implementation monitoring and service evaluation) Food product development (indigenous recipes, nutraceuticals, tailored functional foods and recipes Data collection, collation, management and data analysis through to nutrition in health policy proposal drafting Public health advocacy (infant–maternal nutrition interventions) including community and stakeholder engagement and skill transfer training My passion is fieldwork and I am currently looking for opportunities in global health that are centred on promoting health in indigenous groups and vulnerable populations all over the globe.
