ABOUT KAUSHIKA PATEL
I have been in academia since 2006 following a 17 year career as a qualified social worker, working in child protection initially and latterly with young offenders. My years in academia have seen me progress from senior lecturer teaching Criminology, social work and policing students through to being the Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and Deputy PVC for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at DMU both alongside the fantastic role of being the Director for the Decolonising DMU project which achieved the first Silver Race Equality Charter mark in the sector. I am committed to supporting the advancement of equalities across the HE sector with a particular focus on driving forward anti-racist practices within Higher Education.
