ABOUT GILLIAN J. FURNISS
I am a visual artist and an art educator at the K-12 and university levels in the USA.I have a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I am skilled in Teaching, Curating, Exhibiting, Supervising, Public Speaking, Leadership, Research, Scholarly Writing, and Publishing. I am the recipient of the MAEA Higher Education Art Educator of the Year Award (2017). I am the recipient of the AENJ Anthony A. Guadadiello Award (2025), and the recipient of the New Jersey Governor’s Awards in Arts Education (2025).My scholarly Interests include: Investigating the art process of artists with ASD; exploring the role of sustainability of traditional arts; designing art workshops as outdoor exploration of nature; investigating the lived experiences and global resources of interdisciplinary artists.Furniss, G.
