Over 20 years\' experience in the design and assessment of bridges and various heavy civil structures both for the engineering consultancies and steelwork fabricator/contractor. Experience in the design of pre-stressed concrete, steel, and composite bridges, and bridge substructures in a seismic region. Management experience in bridge design projects in an international project setup, along with a working knowledge of steel detailing and construction processes. Specialist skills include noise and vibration engineering, such as the design of noise and vibration mitigating track forms, air-borne and ground-borne vibration analyses, and train-induced bridge vibration, and seismic design for bridges. Analysis skills include nonlinear finite element analysis, track-structure interaction analysis, dynamic analysis, and seismic analysis with proficiency in using Lusas and Midas Civil. Experienced in the Grasshopper software for 3D Tekla modelling and data processing in CAD. Driven by a strong passion for cost-effective bridge design and value engineering. Numerous technical publications on bridge design. A good knowledge Japanese standards and civil engineering technologies and many contacts with Japanese Bridge/Civil engineers. Former Chairman of the UK section of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) and IStructE PRI co-ordinator of the South Eastern Regional Group until 2019.
