ABOUT DOUGLAS RIRIE
I am a clinician, educator and researcher. I have trained numerous residents and fellows and have made contributions through studies in clinical patient care and basic science pain mechanisms. I am a pediatric anesthesiologist and as a physician leader, I have a record of delivering high quality health care in an integrated delivery system, and I have led clinical and information systems initiatives. In addition to being accountable for the clinical services I and my team deliver across our large footprint, I serve to promote education and research. I continue to serve as a clinical faculty member at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Brenner Children’s Hospital. The focus of my clinical work is assuring my team of physicians and nurses perform high quality and safe care in the perioperative domain. This is done through a combination of continuous improvements through academic, educational and research media, implementation of technology solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our programs, and quality improvement initiatives to provide better care and support better outcomes for patients.
