If you allow a bad idea to continue without speaking up then you are guilty of negligence and malpractice. ABOUT DON HUOVINEN
My goal is to work for and with companies that drive positive social, economic and environmental change. Why? Because in my experience when companies have a vision larger than themselves it is infused throughout the company and this helps drive greater cultural alignment. I believe the right culture is the most critical attribute of company success, establishing sustainable differentiation and the most challenging to get right. I’m a futurist and believe that, “the best way to predict your future is to create it”. This strategy applies to both individuals as well as the society. I’m a technologist. Technology is a tool. The objective of tools has remained the same since the creation of the first stone tools - to improve our effectiveness. We have many more tools available today but what is the objective of these tools, and with so many tools available are you selecting the right tools for the job or are you suboptimized?I’m also a process person. I believe the large enterprises need culture, process and technology – in that order – to succeed and to establish sustained competitive advantage. Smaller companies need the same critical attributes but the weighting may be slightly different. My strengths are my ability to listen, reflect and share. One of personal pains is seeing inefficiency, especially when that is due to lack of shared knowledge or organizational silos. I hate waste. The most precious resources we have is human capital. We must apply it correctly and unlock the latent value which exists in all organizations where there is an imperfect understanding of the true vs. perceived capabilities. Within the corporate world my mental elasticity, curiosity, and recognition of the unique value that everyone provides has enabled me to excel in a number of different areas.
