ABOUT DON AVJEAN

Don Avjean is Vice President Business Development of Verde Outdoor, a newly formed out-of-home (OOH) media company with over 1,400 billboard faces across the Midwest, Mid- and South-Atlantic regions. Don’s extensive OOH experience spans nearly 50 years, from his early start as an electrician’s helper to holding various vice president positions in government affairs, real estate and operations with Gannett Outdoor of New Jersey, Metromedia, Viacom Outdoor, CBS Outdoor, and eventually forming his own company and consulting firm. Don was inducted into the Outdoor Advertising Hall of Fame in 2017. Prior to joining Verde Outdoor in 2021, Don was Vice President Government Affairs of Outfront Media, a position he held since 2001 before retiring from his role in July 2020. Don’s leadership has been instrumental in driving innovation within the outdoor advertising industry. He played an integral role in the development of many key industry practices, including the use of flexible face vinyl billboard faces, a ratchet attachment system for sign structures and a computerized system digitalizing billboard copy. Additionally, Don’s political and charitable efforts have also shaped the OOH industry and continues to champion for favorable OOH legislation. He has served on several committees for Out of Home Advertising Association of America, most notably on the Legislative Committee where he lobbied for fair treatment for OOH within both federal and state legislative industries. Don’s charitable contributions include his involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Community Food Bank of New Jersey, the Newark Alliance, Wounded Warriors, American Cancer Society and various state and local law enforcement anti-drug programs including D.A.R.E.(Drug Abuse Resistance Education).
