WORK HISTORY
Senior Scientist @Aon
As part of the Catastrophe Insight team, I research natural catastrophe events globally, maintain the Global Catastrophe Loss Database, and regularly report on nat cat events and losses in our industry reporting products such as Weekly Cat Reports, Quarterly Cat Insight Reports, and the Aon Annual Climate and Catastrophe Insight Report. I also lead the Automated Event Response (AER) product for US Severe Convective Storms (SCS) at Aon Impact Forecasting. I\'m responsible for end-to-end product ownership and optimization of this real-time catastrophe response solution, which delivers automated, personalized loss estimates and actionable insights to (re)insurers during high-impact storm events. Key responsibilities include:a. Guiding the core product logic and user experience, including automated extraction of critical information from model runs (e.g, portfolio-level and postal code-level impacts), determining optimal data presentation formats, and crafting comprehensive email alerts to enable rapid decision-making.b. Maintaining the automated processing pipeline, from data ingestion and model integration to alert generation and delivery, while continuously monitoring system health, performance, and uptime across the server infrastructure to ensure reliability during active storm seasons.c. Serving as the primary human-in-the-loop for quality assurance, by validating outputs against ground-truth observations (e.g. PCS, client claims data, etc.), conducting detailed accuracy assessments, and performing post-season performance analyses to quantify truth metrics such as hit rate, false alarm ratio, and overall predictive skill.d. Collaborating closely with business development, R&D, and client success teams by providing product performance data, case studies, competitive insights, and customized demonstrations to support client acquisition, retention, and expansion.

ABOUT DIVYANSH CHUG
I\'m a product-first climate scientist working on innovative solutions for a climate-proof future. My core competence spans risk modeling, data analysis, statistical and numerical modeling (of weather and climate), and understanding the science and impact of complex perils like natural disasters.I currently work in the Catastrophe Insight team at Aon Impact Forecasting. We research natural catastrophe events globally, maintain the Global Catastrophe Loss Database, and regularly report on nat cat events and losses. We also lead automated event response products for various perils globally. I\'m most closely associated with the severe convective storm (SCS) products for the US. I also build automation tools for my team\'s day-to-day workflows.I\'m interested in the intersection of insurance-linked securities and climate risk. I\'m building a climate risk quantification tool in the ILS space, leveraging space data, weather forecasts, and parametric risk modeling. I generally love products that leverage satellite observations.Let’s connect and collaborate on scalable solutions for a resilient and sustainable planet.
