ABOUT JOCELYN GILLIS

I have over 20 years of hands-on expertise in spearheading and supporting programs and plan execution in a service-centric setting. I have a 10 year record in collaborative frontline management that relies on talent in building partnerships, ensuring clarity in communications, securing buy-in from stakeholders at all organizational levels, and developing, training, and leading teams that surpass expectations.I offer a unique perspective with a diverse career background in disability management, occupational therapy, and financial services. I joined Sun Life in 2008 as a Health Management Consultant where I took on the task of working with the company’s abilities case managers to resolve claims while ensuring that Sun Life clients received high quality rehabilitation services. My role in driving the retention of group disability business during this time led to a role as a Case Management Consultant.Thereafter, I stepped up to the challenge of elevating the case management process by serving as a coach, trainer, and mentor to staff on standards for case management. Emerging as a leader, I was promoted to Disability Claims Settlement Consultant, a position I held until July 2015. In this capacity, I had taken ownership of claim reviews and worked across organizational levels and organizations to ensure that they were on par with the non-litigated settlement process and practice. My career trajectory has empowered me with an arsenal of knowledge, strengths, and leadership capabilities, enabling me to strategically navigate through a range of challenges. This lead to a career with Manulife with the National Disability Best Practices group. Areas of expertise I offers include a nuanced understanding of disability management, long term disability insurance, team development and mentorship, and business management.
