ABOUT DIMITRIOS KARTSAKLIS

I am a Greek computer scientist and computational linguist, holding a DPhil completed at the Quantum Group of the University of Oxford. After resigning from my previous position, where I served as the Head of Applied Quantum NLP Research at Quantinuum for five years, I\'m currently taking a self-directed research sabbatical devoted to independent study and ongoing work on foundational and conceptual questions in AI. I have worked as a post-doc at the University of Cambridge (Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics), and Queen Mary (EECS). For two years I was a member of the Siri natural language modelling team, at Apple. Before being engaged in scientific research I was a software engineer and system analyst for more than 15 years. In the past I have also worked extensively as a technical translator/writer, having many collaborations with the Greek academia and top publications such as Scientific American (Greek Edition). My scientific interests include: compositionality; distributional models of semantics; knowledge representation; pregroup and categorial grammars; category theory; machine learning/deep learning (especially in relation to composition); dialogue systems; machine translation and translation technologies; interactive MT and practical applications of MT; wide-coverage statistical parsing; quantum computing.
