For a product like a jet engine, every stage of its life-cycle (e.g, conceptual stage, initial design, advanced design, testing, release, after-sales maintenance) involves an extensive collection of datasets, models, test results, documents, tools, information, and the use of human judgement and expertise. Traditionally, the interconnections between these artifacts are maintained mostly using manual processes involving documents. This method is error-prone, difficult to scale, and requires a large amount of human interaction and intervention. These problems become more critical in situations involving artifacts originating from different life-cycle stages. The MBDT project\'s objective is to develop software tools, methodologies, and workflows to reduce or eliminate the document-based manual intensive approach and demonstrate how we can use models to capture the interconnection between various artifacts in a traceable fashion. I engage with PWC engineers to understand current practices and develop methods, workflows, and software tools to address their limitations and enable additional capabilities. My core activities at PWC are listed below- I am developing a prototype for a simulation life-cycle management solution to coordinate workflows and simulation tasks and capture the traceability between model artifacts, simulations, and results- I have demonstrated engine performance models using Modelica to illustrate the next generation of scalable performance models for systems simulation- I also act as a scrum master to ensure my team members function by the Agile principles and continue to follow a set of collectively agreed-upon processes and practices.
