ABOUT DELMAR GILLUS
Delmar Gillus is the Chief Operating Officer at Elevate, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization committed to ensuring all communities have access to clean and affordable heat, cooling, power, and water. As a key leader at Elevate, Delmar is responsible for implementing operational, workforce development, and project management processes to support the organization\'s expanding portfolio of clean energy projects. His leadership extends across the organization, where he drives business development, program design, project coordination, engineering support, and contract management for a diverse range of energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives.Mr. Gillus plays a critical role in supporting Elevate\'s work in increasing contractor diversity and launching energy assistance, community solar, and smart grid programs for Illinois utility consumers. He also supports the ongoing development of IT, project management, and quality systems and tools for Elevate\'s clean energy programs. A key focus of Delmar\'s work is fostering equitable access to clean energy jobs and developing community-based programs that lead to meaningful and impactful lasting change, particularly in underserved and environmental justice communities. His work centers on building and supporting community-based economies through collaboration and strong partnerships, empowering stakeholders to develop self-sustaining models that drive long-term growth and success.Delmar was instrumental in the passage of Illinois\' Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA), the nation\'s most comprehensive and equitable climate legislation. As a representative and negotiator for the IL Clean Jobs Coalition, he ensured that equity was at the heart of the legislation, creating opportunities and jobs in underserved communities. He oversaw the implementation of four new clean energy contractor development programs in Peoria, Portland, Kansas City, and Dane County, Wisconsin. In addition to his work at Elevate, Delmar is actively involved in industry organizations such as the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC), where he serves as board treasurer. He also provides mentorship and support to emerging energy leaders within and outside of Elevate and is active with the Illinois Future of Work Task Force, the Building Performance Association, and the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition.
