ABOUT DEREK ANDERSON

I completed my Dietetic Internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and began my career as an Army dietitian supporting operational and clinical units across the Military Health System.Over the course of my career, I have served in a variety of clinical, operational, and leadership roles including Chief of Clinical Nutrition, Chief of Food Service Operations, and Chief of the Nutrition Care Division at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Benning, GA, where I also served as the performance nutrition subject matter expert for the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE) supporting Infantry, Cavalry, and Ranger Soldiers.I later transitioned into operational performance roles with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY, serving as both Battalion and Brigade Performance Dietitian under the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) program, where I supported maneuver units and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Most recently, I served as the Nutrition Service Line Chief for MEDDAC-Bavaria in Vilseck, Germany, overseeing nutrition services and health promotion programs for more than beneficiaries across five clinics.I am currently a fully funded PhD fellow through the Army’s Long-Term Health Education and Training (LTHET) program at Auburn University, where my research focuses on human performance, injury risk, and physiological stress in tactical populations.Disclaimer: Any information shared here should not be a substitute for individual care from a healthcare professional.
