ABOUT DAYLIN MANTYKA
Creating vibrant communities with thoughtful communications and engagement programs. I have a strong academic background and obtained my MSc in Biology in 2010. Although passionate about science, I realized my preference for writing, communicating and analyzing data, rather than spending my time in the lab. In late 2011, I entered the startup space and co-found a company, which I worked on for one year. My interest in marketing an communications grew and I worked as the Communications Coordinator for Accelerate Okanagan, the Okanagan\'s Tech Incubator, and as the Social Media Director for Startup Canada, a non-profit that supports Canadian entrepreneurship. I have an active interest in writing and communicating technical ideas to the general public. I\'ve published with a number of high-profile online tech publications. In 2015, I co-founded an annual charity lawn bowling event called On The Lawn. Over four years I was instrumental in raising over for local charity, Elevation Outdoors. The success of this event lead to a number of event design, planning and execution contracts with groups such as Okanagan Changemakers, Urban Matters and Urban Systems Ltd. Now, I call Urban Systems my home. I’m a Communications + Engagement Consultant and am fully embracing our mission to help create vibrant communities. I love to be both creative and analytical and use this approach both personally and professionally. Other interests and specialties include: community engagement, leadership, grant writing, academic writing, content marketing, event planning, public speaking and presentations
