ABOUT DAVID YAM
My approach to higher education administration and leadership is to facilitate student success - defined by learning and development - by considering the whole student and the strategic alignment of the various facets of institutions. My approach to management is to care, connect and enable while modelling a results-oriented, theoretically-grounded, and learner/user-centered culture. This approach reflects my core professional values: lead collaboratively and learn continuously.In my former role I was leading a transformation in service culture across a Division of 300+ employees by working with functional areas and campus partners from across the University. We were informed by a service design (human-centered design) approach, student affairs and service philosophy, and artificial intelligence technology.On the side, I facilitate change management and leadership development workshops and institutes, assist in running a Karate school, write and coach for RelationshipZen.ca, and am enrolled in a PhD in education. What drew me to these crafts is my commitment to promoting transformative education.Prior to this, I worked in communications at a French-language school board, supervised specialty sports camps, managed student government, and advised Ontario\'s Ministry of Education and Ontario\'s Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities on access to French-language post-secondary education.I\'m passionate about my work and I would love to connect with others interested in sharing and learning.
