ABOUT DAVIDE COCO

Fields of interest: space mission design and management, system engineering and all that it’s needed to develop a solid work of design a space mission from scratch and provide a report, both preliminary or critical.Also I’m interested in trajectory and attitude control, due to the nature of my bachelor final thesis work.I have a lot of experience with team projects, especially if they are related to Space engineering. I started in 2015 with the Sapienza Space Team, a team that still exist and it’s composed by the youngest and the most passionate students from all over the faculty of engineering of Sapienza. Our main goal was, and still is, to compete in the annual CanSat competition (organized by NASA, American Astronautical Society and Lockheed Martin) designing, building and testing a little payload, that simply reproduce most of the primary function of an actual satellite.Also I have experience in space outreach and scientific communication, both live and social. I joined the British Interplanetary Society in 2015 and from that day I participated in lot of events all around Italy, like European Researchers Night in ASI (Italian Space Agency) or various Open Days at ESRIN (Italian headquarters of ESA). I became a rocket model expert and through the years I started to do small lessons at High Schools and Universities, in order to promote STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and involve young students, child or families in the beauty and usefulness of space exploration. Another work that I do, in mine spare time, is to post the latest news about the space and the universe on the Link2Universe facebook page, which I co-manage and that can count on a community of nearly space enthusiast.
