AVEVA invests significantly in R&D — but investment alone doesn\'t create customer value. My role exists to close that gap.As Director of Value Realization Validation & Adoption, I\'m building a new function from the ground up — establishing the frameworks, methodologies and cross-functional leadership needed to ensure AVEVA\'s R&D translates into measurable outcomes for enterprise customers, not just product releases. The role operates globally, working across R&D, product and commercial teams to validate that what we build actually delivers, and to drive adoption in a way that creates lasting operational impact for some of the world\'s largest industrial operators. In practice this means: defining how value is measured and validated across the portfolio, engaging directly with senior customer stakeholders to understand what success looks like in their operations, influencing product strategy and roadmap priorities based on real-world outcomes, and building the organisational capability to make value realization a repeatable discipline rather than an afterthought.

EDUCATION

ABOUT DAVID BASKETT CMGR

The OT/IT divide isn\'t a technology problem — it\'s a strategy and leadership problem. And it\'s still costing industrial businesses billions in unrealised value. I\'ve spent over 15 years at the intersection of industrial operations and enterprise technology — moving from deep technical roots in OT systems to leading global product and R&D strategy at scale. Today, as Director at AVEVA, I work across a platform used by some of the world\'s largest industrial operators, focused on turning complex R&D investment into tangible, measurable operational outcomes. What I do differently is hold both worlds simultaneously. I can interrogate architecture decisions with an engineering team in the morning and present strategic options to a board in the afternoon — translating fluently between the two. That combination of technical depth and commercial clarity is what allows me to cut through the noise, challenge assumptions, and drive decisions that actually stick. Over the years I\'ve collaborated directly with end users across food & beverage, water & utilities, energy, and automotive manufacturing — as well as with systems integrators, distributors, and government-backed innovation programmes including UK manufacturing catapults. That breadth gives me an unusually grounded view of where digital transformation succeeds, where it stalls, and why. My focus areas: Industrial AI strategy, OT/IT convergence, Industrial Knowledge Graphs, and the organisational change required to make digital transformation real rather than theoretical. I\'m a Chartered Manager (CMgr) with a track record of influencing strategy across complex, multi-stakeholder environments — from R&D teams and product organisations to C-suite and board-level discussions. If you\'re thinking seriously about where industrial technology is heading — and what it means for your business, your portfolio, or your strategy — I\'m always interested in that conversation.
