ABOUT DAVID MCPHEE
I am currently the interim Director for Global trade at Scottish Enterprise, working to help Scottish businesses trade internationally. Previous I was Deputy Director Circular Economy. I was responsible for working with industry to maximise the effective use of products through better recycling to maximise environmental and economic benefit and also the development and delivery the circular economy and waste Route Map.Previously to that I was deputy director for COVID Safer workplaces. My division worked with sector teams and health and safety regulators to ensure that we made workplaces as safe as possible in response to COVID-19From 2018 to 2020 I was Head of Trade support at the Scottish Government, developing, publishing and delivery the Export Growth Plan - A Trading Nation. I took this role after a number of years in senior leadership roles in Analytical areas of the Scottish Government covering issues such as economic policy, communities and planning. Prior to this I was in DFID where I was the head of ODA delivery and temporary head of the Finance and Performance Department. I have been involved in developing a range of other policies including city deals, right to buy legislation and innovation policy. I originally started as a Fast Stream statistician after achieving a 1st class honours degree in statistics from Glasgow University. During my career I have led teams of statisticians, economists, researchers, finance professionals and policy professionals delivering on a range of varied public delivery projects.
