ABOUT DAVID MANNING
Over 32 years’ experience in engineering, mostly piping related in the Petro-Chemical, Pharmaceutical (Life Science), Power and Water Treatment Industries. Of these 31 years, almost 26 years have been spent as a Pipe Stress Engineer involved in Front End (FEED), basic and detailed engineering (EPC) projects including large and small scale revamps to existing installations. Projects worked on range from major ‘Grass Roots’ refineries and offshore production platforms/bridge piping, FPSO to tank farms, cracking furnaces, waste to energy power plants and life science projects. Accomplished as a discipline lead on both small and large scale projects, ensuring deliverables are met whilst adhering to project standards and reporting progress. Pipe stress duties have comprised of both manual and computer calculations of piping systems in accordance with accepted Codes of Practice to produce both safe and economical designs. Preparation of stress packages for both Client and Licence authority review, specifying and appraisal of piping components e.g. expansion joints, pipe fittings, spring supports and composite piping. Vendor package / skid piping system and equipment reviews including trouble shooting of existing site installations. Experienced in the layout of piping and equipment using both Intergraph PDS and PDMS review.Site work has included trips to Fawley (UK), Stanlow (UK), Daya Bay (China), Moerdijk (Holland), Stenungsund (Sweden), Hassi Messaoud (Algeria), Kuantan (Malaysia), Nanjing (China) and Qidong (China) for survey, engineering and consultancy roles.
