Daniel F. Wilhelm is President of The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, a leader in creating and disseminating knowledge on violence in its many forms, including war, crime and human aggression. Guggenheim research and programs seek to illuminate the nature of, and responses to, issues of violence in the United States and around the world. Under Mr. Wilhelm’s leadership, Guggenheim has increased its focus on research with value for policymakers and practitioners, as well as scholars. It has inaugurated new efforts at public engagement, including new publication series, Capitol Hill briefings, research-and-policy convenings, and collaborations with other funders, academic institutions, and leaders in civil society. The Foundation has strengthened its international activities through support of place-based research on Africa, Asia and Latin America, and the investigation of transnational issues such as extremism, migration and genocide. The Foundation has fortified its program for African FellowsYoung African Scholars, increased partnerships with universities overseas and supported global exchanges.
