I lead the ALICE-USA Council, representing two DOE national labs and eleven U.S. universities in the ALICE experiment at CERN’s LHC. My role centers on facilitating meetings, guiding discussions, and supporting strategic planning to ensure decisions reflect the collective interests of the U.S. ALICE community. I also foster collaboration with DOE, NSF, and international ALICE leadership, promoting transparent governance and a strong U.S. presence in the ALICE Collaboration.

ABOUT DANIEL TAPIA TAKAKI
I am a high-energy nuclear physicist and Professor of Physics at the University of Kansas, exploring how the universe organizes itself at its most fundamental level. My research at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) focuses on ultra-peripheral collisions to probe the structure of matter and the quantum nature of gluons.I have been fortunate to work with remarkable colleagues, students, and collaborators to advance new frontiers in UPC physics, quantum tomography as a novel approach for collider experiments, and the design of next-generation detectors like the ALICE Forward Calorimeter (FoCal). This work is made possible by the generous support of U.S. federal agencies—including the DOE, NSF, and EPSCoR—whose commitment to discovery drives progress in our field.I am honored to serve in leadership roles such as Chair of the ALICE-USA Council and member of the DOE/NSF Nuclear Science Advisory Committee (NSAC), and to foster international collaboration through initiatives like I.ANN QCD. Science is a collective journey, and I am grateful to all who share in this effort to push the boundaries of knowledge and connect science with society.I welcome opportunities to collaborate, mentor, and share insights with others seeking to advance discovery, foster innovation, and bridge science, education, art, and society.
