ABOUT DANIEL SPAULDING
I am a senior geologist with over a decade of oil and gas experience. I am currently working as a development geologist at SM Energy (NYSE: SM) in the South Texas asset. I use my knowledge of operations, development, structure/stratigraphy and geologic modeling to create and optimize field development plans for unconventional fields. Thus far, I have been focused on understanding unconventional plays across the US and have extensive experience in South Texas (Eagleford & Austin Chalk) and West Texas (Midland Basin, Central Basin Platform & Delaware Basin). Prior to working at SM, I worked at Pioneer Natural Resources (NYSE: PXD) for 10 years. While at Pioneer, I worked as an operations (geosteering), planning, development, and regional geologist with special interests in field development, geocellular modeling, unconventional exploration and seismic interpretation. I received my masters and undergraduate degree in geology from the University of Kentucky. While attending graduate school my primary interests were the tectometamorphic history of western North Carolina and the geologic mapping of the Cove Creek Gap Quadrangle. While preforming the geologic mapping of the Cove Creek Gap Quadrangle I furthered my knowledge of regional mapping, structural geology and metamorphic assemblages.
