ABOUT CORNELIA KAUFMANN
I work at the intersection of critical research and strategic communication.By day, I’m a Marketing Communications Manager for a national education provider, working with language, words, structure, and tone in a very practical sense: developing copy, editing complex texts, and shaping clear, engaging narratives for varied audiences.Alongside this, I’m a part-time, distance-learning PhD researcher at the School of Advanced Study, University of London. My research is situated in ecocriticism and Indigenous Pacific writing, with a particular focus on coloniality, nature, and Indigenous short-form texts from Polynesia. I present at international conferences and publish academic articles and reviews. What connects these two strands of my work is a shared set of commitments:– close reading and editorial precision– ethical and context-aware storytelling– attention to power, voice, and audience– making complexity accessible without oversimplifyingI’m especially interested in how language mediates relationships — between people, institutions, and environments — whether in academic research, public-facing education, or organisational communication.I value thoughtful, generous conversations across disciplines and enjoy connecting with fellow researchers, writers, editors, and communication professionals, particularly those who move between theory and practice, or who are curious about how critical perspectives travel beyond academia. If that sounds like your kind of conversation, I’m always glad to exchange ideas.
