Recruited to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Indspire, I drive multi-year, strategic initiatives for the national charity committed to the education of Indigenous people across Canada. Indspire serves First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students in remote communities, rural areas, and urban centres. As COO, I lead operations across all of the organization’s business units, and I’m committed to nurturing a collaborative culture within the organization. My extensive experience in governance, financial planning, strategy setting, and public and private sectors enables me to serve on the governance, investment and audit committees and oversee the management of the organization’s key events including National Gathering, Soaring, Guiding the Journey, and Indspire Awards. Some successes I’d like to highlight in this role include: Reimagining large event programming in response to COVID-19 – in addition to creating a virtual event for National Gathering, I also converted the Indspire Awards into a 60-minute broadcast TV special Ensuring cross-functional engagement by hosting and enforcing recurring management meetings Commanding a multi-million-dollar budget while overseeing the executive team, including the CFO and a broader team of 39
