ABOUT KAREN CLARK

Executive Summary:I\'m a game production & software project management leader. I hold a MSPM (Master\'s of Science degree in Project Management). I thrive in many environments, from scrappy start ups to enterprise companies. Places where I grew skills, influence, and leadership abilities include Linden Lab (Second Life), BioWare / EA, Cloudera, Splunk, Netflix, Yelp, and Phoenix Labs.Details:Deep experience in software development, focusing on game development, quality assurance, and backend/infrastructure engineering. I expanded my self-taught skillset by gaining a master\'s degree in project management. During my career of twists and turns in technology, I came to understand that the critical secret to making excellent products is to enable the team to work smarter; to foster a genuine atmosphere where everyone participates. Process is only useful insofar as it facilitates human interaction.A few of my adventures:* Managing the skate. quality assurance team of 90 people across three international locations at EA.* Supporting a stellar team of 140 internal & external developers as Lead Producer on an unannounced title at Phoenix Labs.* Spending a year abroad studying Japanese in Kumamoto, Japan, after which I gained a bachelor\'s degree in Japanese language & literature.* Supporting 40+ engineers in every possible aspect of simulation & virtual world features as a key program manager at Second Life during its heyday (20••••07).Extra-curricular activities:I\'m a firm believer in the power of mentoring, having founded Women in Games International\'s (WIGI) mentoring program \"GameMentorOnline,\" a game industry first-of-its-kind. I continue to mentor and be mentored, lifting up those around me. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, crafting, and reading.Profile picture by Kim Parker
