ABOUT CLAIRE ANDERSON
Claire Anderson is a Sub-Saharan Africa Desk Officer and Presidential Management Fellow at the United States Department of Commerce. As an International Trade Specialist, Claire brings ten years of economic development policy and program management experience to the International Trade Administration. Having grown up in 1990s Eastern Europe with her expatriate family, Claire has always been keenly aware of unjust power and resource distribution around the world. This reality only became more obvious as she went on to public high school in Los Angeles, completed her MBA field study in China, and ultimately began her career at a Women’s Business Center and Loan Fund. Claire has seen firsthand the shortsightedness of well-intentioned policies and programs that do not account for populations’ unique challenges and opportunities. These personal and professional experiences have shaped her understanding of, and drive to eliminate, global economic inequities. Claire has a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and most recently attained a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University where alongside her studies, she had the privilege of working in the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General.
