My primary role is to assist clients in the preparation of their research and development tax claims, however I also assist in the preparation of government grant applications. My role incorporates many responsibilities under the following umbrellas:General:Preparation of client deliverables, including technical documentation and expenditure documentation.People Management:• I provide ongoing development opportunities to junior staff members through coaching and delegating client deliverables, as well as engaging in discussion and constructive feedback.Project Management:• Organising and running client meetings, client correspondence, client deliverables and preparation of final claim documentation.• Managing expectations- internal and external (deadlines, quantum of claims).• Managing internal budgets/resources, client billing.• Managing deliverables on multiple engagements simultaneously.Leadership: • Assisting with running internal training sessions on current issues in the R&D tax arena.• Engagement manager for a number of clients, both through taking advantage of my background in geology for the mining industry, as well as branching out into other industries.Decision-making:• Determination of claimant eligibility through interviewing key project managers, reviewing contracts etc.• Preparation of advice on contentious issues.• Setting deadlines with clients to work together to facilitate the flow of information.Adaptability:• As demonstrated by my current role, a scientist working in the chartered accounting industry, I have made a drastic change in my professional career where I hope to excel in all aspects.• Working with team members who have varied professional backgrounds, in terms of industry and professional experience/roles.• Ability to engage in and deliver high quality work for clients in industries outside of my area of expertise (building and construction, ICT, aluminium smelting, manufacturing, agriculture).
