As an ARISE fellow, I engineer advanced laboratory automation strategies powered by online image analysis. I develop software to serve machine learning to robotic microscopes; deployments include environmental surveys, gene therapies, and organotypic screens. At the bench, I develop photomanipulation methods to tag, sort, and perturb living cells in response to image feedback. I advocate for long-term growth of microscopy and automation in life sciences, including interoperability across hardware and data conventions, service provision to public-sector research infrastructures, and education of users and developers.
