WORK HISTORY
Cluster Engineer @Mars
Leeds, GB
Member of the Dry and Care & Treats (C&T) Regional Engineering team. Engineering project management responsibility for strategic initiatives across Europe- Restructuring C&T SKUs to unify on price point instead of product count. Modifications to heavily automated/standardised production lines to provide flexibility whilst maintaining operability, rapid changeovers and OEE. Cross-functional working to optimise packaging design and deliver scope, while avoiding impact on Supply from doubling the number of SKUs- Consultant engineer to capacity expansion project at sister site (>€50m new production line). Combined proven and innovative concepts, including robotic pick & place, to produce a design unprecedented in its scale, performance and flexibility - enabling a very wide product portfolio while having virtually no change parts. Right first time approach to engineering design by proving concepts on existing assets. Produced Excel simulation of entire packing line to model all production scenarios and operating philosophy in ‘non-normal’ situations (equipment stoppages, under/over-feeding etc.). Collaborated with supplier to develop a new generation of rotary extrusion nozzle which, combined with packing innovations, will quadruple production output vs existing capabilities- Member of the Global ‘Community of Experts’ with specific expertise in product collation and C&T packaging. Document latest engineering standards and share learnings/advice with other markets (e.g. US, LATAM & Australia)- Leading the Dry and C&T packaging sustainability work stream: replacing non-recyclable films with recyclable mono-material laminates. Devised engineering strategy for approx. 80 packaging machines across 50 production lines/5 European production sites. Management of approx. €12m project budget to upgrade and replace existing packaging asset base (HFFS, VFFS, Premade etc.). Working with Demand and virtually all Supply functions and coordinating site project engineers.
