ABOUT CHRIS HALLAM

I have written two books and for a large number of national and local magazines, newspapers and websites since 2004. I have a PTC Magazine Journalism qualification and am trained in Media Law. I am the author of the local history books, Secret Exeter (with Tim Isaac, 2018) and A-Z of Exeter: Places – People – History (2019). Both are published by Amberley. I have been one of the main writers for Yours Retro magazine since it started in 2016. In 2019, I was the main author of an eighty-four page special edition of the magazine detailing the 100 Greatest Movie Icons of all time. I have completed well over 100 features for the regular magazine mostly about film stars and TV shows of the past. I have written regularly for the nostalgia magazine, Best of British since 2017. As of 2022, had over 100 features published. I have written a regular weekly local history column for the Midweek Herald, Exmouth Journal and Sidmouth Herald since 2020. Since 2015, I have been working as the Head of Media Monitoring for Apollo Strategic Communications. I regularly wrote history-themed articles for Exeter Life magazine. Memoria/Funeralzone: In 2018, I provided around words of biographies for the website. I was the most prolific writer for magazine Geeky Monkey, throughout 2016 and 2017, writing mainly about sci-fi TV and films. I wrote regular press releases for the local charity Hospiscare in 2016 and 2017. In late 2016, I wrote for the TV mag Bingebox, as TV Drama Editor. I wrote several 2014 annuals (Smurfs, Star Wars Clone Wars, South Park, Furbys, Temple Run) for Pedigree Books. In 2014, I also wrote the 2015 Transformers annual. I had features published in Yours, All About History (2017) and Nene Living (2016). Between 2014 and 2015, I blogged regularly for Metro.co.uk, producing over fifty articles often focusing on entertainment. I resumed this role in 2022. I have produced my own blog since 2012.
