Houston, TX, US

I want the student’s learning experience to be world-class, so I put in 110% effort, with this goal in mind. I ensure no student is left behind and teach my visual art classes with passion. I teach in-person and asynchronous online courses. Using Concourse software, I create an enriching, diverse, organized, and comprehensive syllabus with the aim of the student’s success in mind. My Art Appreciation class is exciting, hands-on, & 110% out-of-the-box creative. I use my vast network of contacts, to introduce students to the art industry and what they may find as a hidden world of treasures in Houston. Changing students’ points of view by challenging them with alternative sources of information so they can make interesting connections and develop creative, analytical, and critical thinking. Creating assignments comparing and contrasting their personal ideas about art history, encouraging individuality. Getting students interested and excited about the visual arts by showing interesting links between present pressing political, economic, scientific, and social issues via relating them to art from the past and present is an important part of my teaching ethos. I participate in training and adjunct academy courses to improve my teaching skills. I conduct myself as an ambassador of HCC, with respect to the institution’s excellent reputation. I constantly research tools to help students succeed who have disabilities, and students who may have language barriers. I notify the availability of my research tools to all the students in my class, to improve the success of the whole class. In this new learning environment, was created due to the covid-19 pandemic I continuously use technology, think outside the box, and creatively solve problems that we as Professors, have never encountered. Over-communication, and going over-expectations to support students is key during this critical time when learning can be compromised due to the challenges of this pandemic life and times.
