Director, Transportation Diverse Learner Supports @Chicago Public Schools

Accountable for facilitating and improving the efficient and effective spend of approximately 30 million dollars to lead the development and administration of a support program provided by over Bus aides and 80 Bus Monitors to meet the requirement for transporting our diverse learner student which includes the establishing of work plans and systems to ensure the adequate recruitment, retention, and training of adequate department personnel. Additionally, responsible for the development and implementation of strategy and key performance metrics (KPI’s) for vendors, internal operations, and bus aides. Collaborates with the Vendor Management ream to ensure vendor contractual compliance of Chicago district yellow school bus and para transit vendors ensuring the safe transport and delivery of students daily. Works with the Office of Business Development to ensure equitable opportunities are provided and communicated to new and existing minority and women business enterprises. Monitor operations to ensure that bus aides comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations ensuring that all updates and/or changes dictated by federal, state, city guidelines are communicated. Works with the Office of Diverse Learner Supports (ODLSS) to process placement inquiries, community based Head Start program and ½ day ECSE program pick-up and/or drop off requests in an effort to reduce/minimize routes with only one child due to excessive distance between home address and school while meeting their needs as defined by a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
