ABOUT CARL ENSTON

I’m Carl, a Chartered Engineering Manager with over two decades of experience specialising in fluid control systems, valves, pipelines, and associated instrumentation. My journey has been anything but conventional—I started working in engineering at 17 and have since built a career that spans over 24 years. My career has taken me to every corner of the world— I have lived and worked in England, Wales, Scotland, the Philippines, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and most recently, the UAE.My speciality is SOLVING PROBLEMS. I am the person who eagerly undertakes all the technical questions that others prefer to avoid. The steeper the challenge, the quicker I am to take it on – figuring out why equipment fails, designing and developing complex systems and writing detailed engineering proposals that allow for the implementation of new technologies. From a technical standpoint, my work has primarily involved designing, manufacturing, assembling, testing, commissioning and maintaining critical fluid control systems and industrial valves. In a field where precision and reliability are non-negotiable, I’ve built a reputation for problem-solving and innovation. I’ve refined processes to make them more efficient, optimised designs to save time and costs, and ensured that high-quality outcomes are achieved—every time. I’ve led multicultural, multi-disciplined teams in some of the most demanding engineering projects and environments, bringing empathy, humour, innovation and drive to every challenge. My approach is simple: learn from every experience, apply those lessons to the next project, and always aim for excellence.I’d like to believe that I am more than just a manager; I’m a mentor, a communicator, and a natural influencer within an organisation. Engaging with all stakeholders, I help define business strategy and direction by uniting teams and lobbying for support for our vision and ideas. I’m also passionate about helping others grow in their careers. My colleagues often say I inspire them to push boundaries and think outside the box.Outside of work, you’ll find me exploring new cultures, cycling, walking, playing a competitive game of pool or indulging my interest in the universe and philosophy.
