ABOUT CAREEN MWENISONGOLE
I’m Careen, a Tanzanian-born advocate for education and technology, majoring in AI and Decision Making, and currently serving as the Freshman Outreach Chair for the African Students Association at MIT. I am the Founder and Lead Instructor of CodeSafari, an ongoing initiative where I tutor students in Tanzania on the fundamentals of programming, bridging the gap in Computer Science education for high school students. I am also a partner at Rafiki Global Scholars, a program dedicated to empowering students from low-income backgrounds to pursue higher education. At Rafiki, I tutor students in SAT and IELTS and assist with college applications, guiding them through the process to reach their full potential. Looking ahead, I’m eager to continue expanding my efforts in educational outreach, with the goal of reaching even more students and creating opportunities that empower the next generation of leaders to drive meaningful change in the world.
